  • To appoint a clearing agent,
  • Visit the ZRA Customs Portal at https://portal-customs.zra.org.zm.
  • Select Customs Portal App and sign in using the same credentials you use for TaxOnline.
  • Once successfully logged in, click on Customs Licensing.
  • On the left-hand side menu, under Agent Management, select Consignee Request.
  • Click Appoint Agent(s).
  • Select and appoint the clearing agent of your choice.

We provide clearing and forwarding services for air freight and road freight including Import/export declarations and management of import duties, VAT, and bonded cargo. We also liaise with the relevant licensing authorities in order to obtain the required approval for the imports. Facilitating applications for VAT zero- rating on qualifying import. 

Import duties are typically calculated based on the customs value of the goods, which may include the cost of the goods, insurance, and freight charges (CIF value). The applicable duty rate is determined by the product's tariff classification (HS Code), country of origin, and any relevant trade agreements.

The documents required include a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or airway bill, import permits (where applicable), and customs declaration forms. Certain products may require approvals from regulatory authorities before clearance. We assist our clients in preparing and verifying all documentation to ensure smooth customs processing.

The clearance period depends on the nature of the goods, completeness of documentation, inspections, and border traffic. Shipments with accurate and complete documentation are generally processed much faster. We work closely with customs and regulatory agencies to minimize delays and ensure timely clearance.

While some smaller consignments may be cleared directly by the importer, larger commercial shipments often require customs declarations through approved customs systems and procedures. Using an authorized clearing agent to ensure accurate duty assessment.

Yes. Certain products such as food items, medicines, agricultural products, chemicals and other regulated goods may require permits, certificates, or approvals from relevant authorities before importation.
